The “Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan” were registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2021. The area contains numerous Jomon-period ruins, including designated Special Historic Sites such as the Sannai Maruyama Site and the Oyu Stone Circles. This exhibition explores the rich life and spirituality of the Jomon people in relation to their world-renowned culture and sustainable society, which flourished for over ten thousand years in an abundant natural environment, with a focus on excavated dogu clay figures and accessories.
