Kyoto Art for Tomorrow 2020 – Selected Up-and-coming Artists’ Exhibition

Special exhibition “Kyoto Art for Tomorrow 2020 – Selected Up-and-coming Artists’ Exhibition” introduces emerging artists who are dedicated to the creation of new art in Kyoto. This exhibition, which has a history of over sixty years, has been an event in which talented artists can spread their wings and take a great leap forward. This year, we will show the various works of forty artists, who have been selected by a committee of experts from art museums and one art critic. Also, there will be an installation titled “Utakata no Kasane” which has been created by domestically and internationally active contemporary artist Aiko Miyanaga. Kyoto Prefecture aims to promote and encourage diversity in art for the future. Through this exhibition, we would like to share with you how contemporary artists see this period in time and open to new dimensions in art. Please enjoy the sense of vibrant and refreshing youth that the works of these artists who will shoulder the next generation of art for Kyoto will offer. In closing, we would like to express our gratitude to all those who have cooperated with us greatly in order to bring the holding of this exhibit to fruition.
